Tuesday, January 29, 2013 – Clarksville Resident Noah Bernstein is a Winner of Howard County Fire and Rescue’s “Two Ways Out” Drawing Contest
Howard County Fire and Rescue held a “Two Ways Out” drawing contest during Fire Prevention Week in October 2012. Contestants were asked to draw an “Escape Map” for their house. Noah Bernstein, a five year old kindergartner at Pointers Run Elementary, entered a drawing of his family’s home escape map showing bedrooms and two different ways he could escape his house in the event of fire. For his participation in helping is family develop an escape map, Noah received a visit form firefighters from the Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department.
Noah, his family and several friends from his neighborhood met in his driveway on Saturday, January 26 th. Braving the snow and cold, all the children and parents toured the fire engine. Wrapping up the visit, Noah showed the firefighters his escape route from his house and the family meeting place. The firefighters assisted the family with a home safety survey and answered their questions about smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, kitchen safety and hazardous chemical storage. Congratulations Noah!
